family homesteading and off the grid blog hop

homesteadingWith the snow piling up outside and the wood stove burning slowly, Wendie and I have been focusing on being productive inside. Homesteading, it turns out, takes place inside the house as well.

Our endeavors have been varied, from hosting the Gifts From the Homestead Giveaway (you can still enter:) to creating art. Winter isn't about waiting for the spring thaw, but for spending time with loved ones.

In the coming weeks, we'll also be hosting a Cookie Recipe blog hop for the holidays with some of our friends, and putting out some of our favorite Christmas recipes.

I'm finding myself in the woodshop more these days as well, with beehives to build and special orders piling up from our Etsy store. We don't do as solid a business through the website, but that should change with the weather and beehive orders start coming in.

We are also looking to start collecting some of our best recipes into eBook formats to begin sharing with you all. We run a publishing business out of our house, and have some experience in putting together a book. Keep an eye out for those in the near future.

Cheers, and stay warm!

Our featured blog post from last week was shared by Nancy from over at Nancy on the Home FrontThough we grow much of what we need, there are some things that are so special that it makes sense to go search them out. Walnuts are a great example of that. Cheers for the share!
