WELCOME to the November 2019 "You're the Star" Blog Hop!

We had our first frost just a couple of days ago, and guess what. We were ready for it. With the exception of the Brussel sprouts and the parsnips, the garden beds have been cleaned out, and the garlic went in on time. This year, we planted deeper with a little more space between cloves and expect a nice return in the spring.

The chickens and guineas all have fresh hay and wood chips laid down in their runs and coops, and the shed is nearly complete. All that is left to be done is the tar shingles next weekend, the exterior trim and some finishing detail on the interior which can be done even after the snow falls.

For seeds, we're saved a handful of butternut so far, as well as some from our largest watermelon. With cold weather, our thoughts are now focused on the winter projects as much as next spring. Meal planning with our preserved foods, reading up on animal husbandry and new gardening techniques, and how to build a she-shed.

Cheers!

Thinking Spring During a NH Winter
